Garry Hurlbut

Garry retired from Kaiser Permanente in 2013, and, with his wife, Maryn, moved from Oakland to Point RIchmond. They were enchanted by the rich history of Richmond, in general, and Point Richmond, in particular. Garry and Maryn are committed to community involvement and service. Garry joined the Point Richmond Neighborhood Council (PRNC) as the Treasurer and Maryn joined the Richmond Recreation and Parks Commission as Chairperson. They formed the Richmond Tennis Association (RTA) with the Mission: ‘Improve the healthy lifestyles for Point Richmond/Richmond residents of all ages through active participation in vigorous tennis programs along with enhanced facilities and adjacent parks’. They refurbished the tennis courts behind the Plunge and established the Hurlbut Tennis and Garden Park for the enjoyment of Point Richmond neighbors and friends. After a ‘tour’ as Treasurer, Garry has continued to stay on the PRNC Board of Directors as an At-Large Officer and Zoom meeting host. They have been very active in the ‘resurrection’ of the Masquers Theater.  Garry and Maryn enjoy their camaraderie with son, Mark, who lives nearby in Atchison Village.
