SUMMARY:2025 Fleet Week Pancake Breakfast on Red Oak Victory
DESCRIPTION:Come to Red Oak Victory on the last day of Fleet Week for a Pancake Breakfast\, Big Band music\, special exhibits and… the Snowbirds!\n\n\nEvery year\, Fleet Week honors both the current U.S. Navy and our Naval heritage. Join us on board the World War II veteran ship USS Red Oak Victory on Sunday\, October 12 for a Pancake Breakfast \, live music\, and San Francisco Fleet Week 2025! \nWhat could be better for Fleet Week than to enjoy a breakfast cooked in and served from a real World War II ship’s galley? We’ll be celebrating our Navy and our history while enjoying a great breakfast and great views on the decks of the Red Oak Victory. Live big band music will be on tap all morning. And\, as a special bonus\, in the afternoon the RCAF Snowbirds\, from Canada\, will perform in the Fleet Week Airshow over San Francisco Bay. (For more information about San Francisco Fleet Week 2025\, click here.) \nOur radio room will also be in operation so you can send a radiogram to anyone in the world. Send you land-locked friends “Greetings from Fleet Week!” via our original\, Morse code-only ship’s radio. Just fill out the radiogram form including the recipient’s email or phone number and we’ll take care of the rest at no charge! We’ll also feature a detailed diorama of the attack on Pearl Harbor from the Society of Miniature Ship Collectors. \nYour breakfast is only $20 (plus $3.18 ticketing fee) for adults and $5 (plus $2.18 fee) for children 8 and under. Breakfast service begins at 9:00 AM and ends at 12:30 PM. (We serve until 1:00 PM but no new admissions will be taken after 12:30.) If you stay later in the afternoon\, you can also watch the Fleet Week Airshow. \nA limited number of tickets are available that include a discounted same-day audio tour or docent-led tour of the ship. Click on the Select Tickets button for more details. \nClick on the Select Tickets button to purchase your tickets. \nNOTE: Our Fleet Week event usually sells out ahead of time. We therefore strongly encourage you to purchase your tickets early because once they’re gone\, they’re gone! \n\n\n\nAbove: This year’s Fleet Week Airshow features the Royal Canadian Air Force Snowbirds!

SUMMARY:Author Talk! Ashtrays are Full & the Glasses are Empty with Kirsten Mickelwait
DESCRIPTION:Author Kirsten Mickelwait will present her novel\, The Ashtrays Are Full and the Glasses are Empty (published in May 2025). About a well-known society couple of New York’s Gilded Age: heiress Sara Wiborg and Gerald Murphy. Sara dreams of a more creative life than the rigid future prescribed for her. After a friendship of eleven years\, they marry despite the strong disapproval of her family. \nAgainst the sizzling Jazz Age backdrop of 1920s Paris and Antibes\, Sara’s innate style and gift for friendship attract the bohemian elite of the new century-including Hemingway\, Fitzgerald\, Picasso\, and Dorothy Parker. But by the 1930s\, her fortune is lost and tragedy strikes-not once\, but twice. A heartbreaking story of love and loss\, The Ashtrays Are Full and the Glasses Are Empty follows Sara through her very modern life to reveal how tragedy can be healed by faith\, unconditional love\, and a creative mind.
