SUMMARY:Richmond Arts Fair & Words N Motion Show
DESCRIPTION:Come enjoy food\, interactive art booths; poetry\, painting\, & dance workshops; and a live show from local artists and youth performers.\n\n\nRichmond Arts Fair & Words ‘N Motion Show: Art\, Community\, and Connection \nThe magic of creation lies in the mysterious force that drives one to dance\, paint\, write\, speak\, or manifest art in any form it begs to take. While each act of creation\, no matter how minor\, is worthy of personal satisfaction\, the celebration of art as a whole would be nothing without community. \n \nFree and open to all ages\, our Words ‘N Motion Community Arts Fair is an event dedicated to sharing art and keeping it alive. It will feature a range of workshops\, including those focused on dance\, poetry\, and body percussion. Food to purchase will also be available\, along with interactive booths that encourage everyone’s inner artist to shine! The fair will close with the  Words ‘N Motion show\, highlighting local students and professional artists’ performances. The detailed schedule is as follows: \n \n1:00pm – 3:00pm: Booths\, arts workshops\, and food \n3:00pm – 5:00pm: Words ‘N Motion show with student and adult performances \n \nMuch like art allows us to inspire and innovate\, community holds and unites us together; the glue we now need is you! Mark your calendars and invite family\, friends\, and art enthusiasts of all kinds. We are looking forward to crafting this masterpiece with you!

SUMMARY:Author Talk! Ashtrays are Full & the Glasses are Empty with Kirsten Mickelwait
DESCRIPTION:Author Kirsten Mickelwait will present her novel\, The Ashtrays Are Full and the Glasses are Empty (published in May 2025). About a well-known society couple of New York’s Gilded Age: heiress Sara Wiborg and Gerald Murphy. Sara dreams of a more creative life than the rigid future prescribed for her. After a friendship of eleven years\, they marry despite the strong disapproval of her family. \nAgainst the sizzling Jazz Age backdrop of 1920s Paris and Antibes\, Sara’s innate style and gift for friendship attract the bohemian elite of the new century-including Hemingway\, Fitzgerald\, Picasso\, and Dorothy Parker. But by the 1930s\, her fortune is lost and tragedy strikes-not once\, but twice. A heartbreaking story of love and loss\, The Ashtrays Are Full and the Glasses Are Empty follows Sara through her very modern life to reveal how tragedy can be healed by faith\, unconditional love\, and a creative mind.
