SUMMARY:Best of Richmond Contest Starting
DESCRIPTION:Beginning 3/25/24\, Richmond residents will have an opportunity to vote for their favorite businesses and places.\nBest of Richmond Ballot \n——\nRichmond Chamber of Commerce\nPRESS RELEASE\nContact: James Lee\, President/CEO\nPhone: (510)234-3512\n  \nFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE \n3/21/23 \n  \nInaugural Best of Richmond Contest Launching March 25th \nRichmond residents will soon be able to nominate their favorite local businesses to be recognized in the first-ever “Best of Richmond Contest”\, a multi-partner effort led by the Richmond Chamber of Commerce that aims to celebrate the city’s diverse business community and encourage shopping locally. The program is partnering with The City of Richmond Mayor’s Office and local business groups such as Cobiz Richmond\, Richmond Main Street and the Point Richmond Business Association. \nAccording to Richmond Chamber President\, James Lee\, there are many reasons why we should all shop locally here in Richmond. “When you shop at local businesses and use a local service provider\, more money stays within the Richmond community and that helps to strengthen our local economy. Local businesses also create jobs in the community\, and that provides employment opportunities for Richmond residents.”  \nIn addition\, says James\, “local Richmond businesses often provide more personalized service because the owners and employees have a better understanding of Richmond’s diverse culture and preferences. Plus\, as owner/operators\, they are invested in customer satisfaction.” \nThe Best of Richmond program will allow Richmond residents to share their experiences dining at local restaurants\, shopping at local stores\, and using local service providers within a simple ballot. \nIn just moments\, patrons of any of Richmond’s businesses can click on a ballot at the Richmond Chamber of Commerce website (https://www.rcoc.com/best-of-richmond-2024) and nominate their favorite businesses for recognition. \nThe over 100 categories are as eclectic as one would expect in Richmond\, including designations like Best Tacos\, Best Hair Salons\, Most Romantic Restaurants\, Best Cannabis Dispensaries\, Best Realtors\, and Best Landscapers. There will also be non-commercial choices that will let Richmond residents share their favorite insider tips\, such as Best Place to Picnic\, Best Place to Walk Your Dog\, or Best Places to Visit in Richmond with Out-of-Town Guests. \n“Richmond has some wonderful businesses and places to visit” said Chamber Communications Director Sofia Lopez who grew up in Richmond. “We’re excited to celebrate what’s here and raise awareness about our community so that our businesses can not only survive but thrive.” \nFaced with the pandemic\, inflation\, and online shopping\, the best way to support your community is to patronize local businesses. Winning businesses can expect a significant marketing boost\, with tangible and digital awards.  News of their achievement will be shared in windows clings\, certificates\, and in an upcoming Richmond Magazine. A write-in nomination phase will begin on March 25th followed by a month-long voting round. The award ceremony with recognition by the City of Richmond and local dignitaries will be held in June with the date and venue to be announced. \nBusinesses can participate at no cost\, and the program is supported by business sponsors. Businesses that would like to sponsor the inaugural event will receive numerous benefits\, including logos on banners placed around the City of Richmond and signs placed in retailer windows\, opportunities to present at the award party\, recognition in social media\, business e-blasts\, business stories\, and more. For more information about business sponsorships or advertising opportunities\, please visit https://bestofrichmond.org or contact Communications Directory\, Sofia Lopez at (510) 234-3512. \n  \n#ENDS\nABOUT THE RICHMOND CHAMBER OF COMMERCE \n  \nSince 1924\, the Richmond Chamber of Commerce has represented the dynamic range of our city’s business community\, from sole proprietors to major corporations. Approximately 70 percent of our members are considered small businesses\, with less than 10 employees. 26 percent of our members have between 10-100 employees\, and only 4 percent of our members are considered large businesses\, having over 100+ employees. \nWe are a voice for each of our members and encourage participation by all. We are an excellent resource for anyone wanting information about Richmond and its business opportunities\, policies and trends.
